a brief history of ink
Historians have tried to narrow down the invention of Ink to either the Chinese or the Egyptians. We focus on India Ink which was invented by Chinese philosopher Tien-Lcheu in 2697 BC.
India Ink remains popular today due to its permanence and vivid colours. Composed of a mix of fine soot, normally from pine smoke known as lampblack, mixed with water. However long ago it was made from burnt bones and tar!.
Most people will think about traditional Asian Ink drawings, but India Ink is used in Calligraphy, Cartoons, architecture and traditional drawings.
